The "Concept to Company" competition is an ongoing innovation contest held in the various regions across the state of Utah.  The main objective of the contest is to encourage and support Utah's entrepreneurial innovators with the intent of helping them turn their concepts into a company. The contest is organized and sponsored by Grow Utah Ventures, USTAR, and Zions Bank. Competitions are held in all regions of the state with each competition focusing on the unique entrepreneurial strengths of that region.

Currently Running Contest: The contest running right now is the Southern Utah Concept to Company Competition.  All website content applies to that contest unless otherwise noted.  Winners of past contests are listed in the "Winners" section.

 

 

Who Can Apply? Both Utah-based and out-of-state entrepreneurs and small businesses with a product or service innovation that utilizes technology in the invention or business itself, or in the production of the invention or core processes of the business. Out-of-state entrepreneurs and small businesses must agree to relocate to Utah. A judging preference will be given to individuals or companies located in the Southern Utah area (see both the "Details" and "Rules" sections for more info and eligibility requirements)

 

 

When Is It? Submit your idea anytime between now and December 10th, 2008 (7 a.m.).  The awards will be given out on stage on January 14, 2008 at the Washington County Economic Summit in St. George, Utah.

 

 

What Do I Win? The winning entry will receive a $20,000 award, comprised of cash and the equivalent value in consulting or prototype services to help bring the idea to fruition. Additionally, two runners-up will also receive $10,000 awards each, comprised of cash and services.
